Olivia Culpo reveals she’s preserving her iconic Miss Universe gowns and wedding dresses for daughter Colette, while hoping the little one inherits the McCaffrey athletic genes.
Prom may be years away, but baby Colette McCaffrey already has a fashion archive most people can only dream of.
Model, actress, and former beauty queen Olivia Culpo revealed that she has been carefully saving some of the most important outfits from her life for her 5-month-old daughter, whom she shares with husband Christian McCaffrey, the star running back for the San Francisco 49ers.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Culpo shared that she has an entire storage unit dedicated to preserving her most meaningful wardrobe pieces for Colette’s future.
“I save everything,” Culpo said. “I have a whole storage unit for her with all of my wedding dresses, my pageant dresses — all of my really valuable keepsakes. I want them to be intact for her when she’s older.”
A Closet Full of Pageant History
Among the standout pieces Colette will eventually discover are the unforgettable gowns Culpo wore during her pageant career — including the plunging pink and red dresses and the iconic velvet gown she wore when she was crowned Miss Universe in Las Vegas in 2012.
That historic win made Culpo the first American to earn the Miss Universe title in 15 years, following Brook Lee. It was a defining moment not just in her career, but in pageant history — and now, one she hopes her daughter can physically experience through fashion.
Saving More Than Just Dresses
Culpo’s sentimental approach doesn’t stop with her own wardrobe. She says Colette’s baby clothes are also being carefully packed away as her daughter grows at lightning speed.
“She grows so fast,” Culpo explained. “It feels like every week I’m pulling out bins to store her clothes.”

Part of that motivation comes from Culpo’s own childhood experience, when her mother cleared out many of her older outfits — including Y2K-era staples she now wishes she still had. The regret inspired her to preserve pieces that may one day feel timeless again.
“You don’t know how these pieces are going to wear and how valuable they can be someday,” Culpo said. “Clothes are truly a moment in time. It’s so cool to be able to take somebody back in that way.”
Fashion Dreams — With a Side of Sports
While Culpo is excited to pass down her love of fashion, she isn’t necessarily hoping her daughter follows her into modeling or pageants. In fact, she has a different dream altogether.
“I hope that she’s an athlete,” Culpo admitted.
Given the McCaffrey family legacy, it’s not a surprising wish. Christian McCaffrey has played in the NFL since being drafted in 2017, previously with the Carolina Panthers and now with the 49ers. He was also named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2023.
“I can’t ruin the McCaffrey gene pool like that,” Culpo joked. “Christian has such an intense line of athletes in his bloodline. If she’s not athletic, that would definitely be my fault.”
A Brand-New Chapter
For now, Colette is still discovering the world one milestone at a time. Culpo shared that her daughter has just learned how to roll over and recently attended her very first 49ers game — a fitting moment for a baby born into both fashion and football royalty.
“She feels so brand new,” Culpo said. “But I can’t wait to see her little personality shine through more and more.”
Whether Colette grows up reaching for couture gowns or cleats, one thing is certain: she’ll have a remarkable legacy waiting for her — neatly stored, lovingly preserved, and filled with stories from two extraordinary worlds.
