According to the US Federal Bureau of Prisons, Fetty Wap — whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II — was transferred on January 7, 2026, from the Federal Correctional Institution in Sandstone, Minnesota, to community confinement. His case is now being overseen by the Bureau of Prisons’ Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management Office.
Why Fetty Wap Was Released Early
Fetty Wap was originally sentenced in May 2023 by a New York court to six years in federal prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. The sentence stemmed from his guilty plea to conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
While his sentence extended well beyond 2026, federal records show that his projected release from home confinement is set for November 8, 2026. Early transfers like this are often part of reentry programs designed to help inmates transition back into society.
