Miranda Lambert Invites Lainey Wilson to Her Ranch for Rest — She Ends Up Sleeping 13 Hours Straight!

Country music star Lainey Wilson recently shared a heartwarming story about how fellow country icon Miranda Lambert helped her take a much-needed break from her hectic schedule — one that turned into a 13-hour nap.

During an episode of Southern Living’s Biscuits & Jam podcast, released on October 7, Wilson opened up to host Sid Evans about the friendship and collaboration she shares with Lambert. The “Heart Like a Truck” singer revealed that Lambert once invited her to her Nashville-area ranch when she was running on empty from an exhausting year of work and touring.

“This was also the year that I was just crazy busy,” Wilson, 33, explained. “I think that year I slept in my bed 15 nights. And one of those times that I was here in Nashville, I remember Miranda calling me and being like… ‘I want you to come out to my farm where there’s hardly any cell phone service, and I want you to take a nap, and we’re gonna feed you.’ Because her husband is a great cook.”

Wilson accepted Lambert’s invitation — and ended up sleeping for 13 straight hours. The deep rest even had Lambert and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, worried. “They had to go knock on the door,” Wilson recalled with a laugh. “‘They’re like, ‘Is she alive?’”

The visit turned out to be more than just a moment of rest — it also inspired creativity. Wilson said she had been developing the idea for her song “Good Horses” for a while, originally sparked by an episode of Yellowstone, the hit TV series she later joined. The song, co-written with Lambert and Luke Dick, eventually found a home on Wilson’s 2024 album Whirlwind, released in August.

“‘Good Horses’ is all about finding your way back home, no matter where you are,” Wilson said in a press release following the song’s release. Lambert echoed the sentiment, adding, “‘Good Horses’ is about all the people that love the comfort of home, but also need to be free. Lainey and I wrote this song at my farm with Luke Dick. Lainey is a genuine and authentic human. I love watching her dreams come true right in front of our eyes, and it’s so cool to be a little part of it.”

Wilson and Lambert’s collaboration didn’t stop there. Earlier in 2024, they joined forces again alongside Reba McEntire for “Trailblazer,” a powerhouse anthem celebrating strong women in country music.

Beyond their musical connection, Wilson says her friendship with Lambert has been deeply grounding. “We have so much in common — especially our love for the Western way of life,” she said. “Also, our love for coming home and planting our feet and filling our cups back up so we can go back out and pour ’em out.’”

Wilson added that Lambert often reminds her to slow down and stay connected to her roots. “She’s always been that voice saying, ‘You can’t do it all. You gotta come home, saddle your horse, scoop the poop, and do all the things that make everything else worth it.’”

For Wilson, that kind of wisdom — and rest — clearly paid off. Between her chart-topping hits, Grammy wins, and collaborations with some of country music’s biggest names, it’s safe to say Lainey Wilson has earned every hour of that 13-hour nap. Lainey Wilson
